Today we have launched a new mobile app to promote both the sub-region as well as our Strategic Economic plan (SEP) to life at the same time as promoting the sub-region.
The app contains information and graphics related to the four areas of focus in the SEP:
- Infrastructure (including rail and road projects, housing, superfast broadband);
- Business (enterprise, innovation & business growth);
- Learning and Training, and
Steve Lamb, Chairman, said: “The launch of this app will help promote Thames Valley Berkshire Strategic Economic plan in a new and unique way that has not been tried before. We hope that the app will be used by a new, more technology-focussed target audience that might not otherwise engage with us. And as Thames Valley Berkshire is the home of technology the initiative made perfect sense.”
It will also help us to communicate our Plan to the wider public – in Berkshire, the wider UK as well as abroad - which is part of the deal we have made with government”.
The app also utilises local business partners – for example the music on the app was supplied by Reading music composing firm Ex Cantibus Gaudium. Robert Hartshorne, ECG MD said: “It made perfect sense for the app to include music created by us – as a local business who had received funding via the LEP we were only too happy to participate”.
Through targeted programmes, the SEP aims to enhance connectivity in order to unlock substantial housing sites, and in return deliver 16,000 new homes and over 42,000 new jobs. ‘Solutions Labs’ will help to drive the skills development of the local workforce and private sector growth and innovation will be boosted through the LEP's Business Growth Hub.
The app was created by agency Screaming Colour and can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.
