Thames Valley Skills Show Experience

Supported by The Skills Show, the European Social Fund and the National Careers Service

Thames Valley Berkshire LEP is proud to have been awarded funding from the European Social Fund and National Careers Service to deliver, alongside its partners, the Thames Valley Skills Show Experience. The programme will provide a range of inspiring and interactive events throughout Thames Valley that will raise skills awareness and motivate young people about the excellent job and career opportunities there are in the area.

The LEP is committed to building a world class workforce and ensuring the next generation of Thames Valley residents is equipped for the future workplace, which forms a key component of the Thames Valley Berkshire Strategic Economic Plan.

What is the Thames Valley Skills Show Experience?

The Skills Show Experience is a nationwide programme of events inspiring 200,000 young people from across the country, unlocking their potential and shaping their future.

The Thames Valley Skills Show Experience, the largest of its kind in the area, will provide hands on experiences and interactive challenges that will inspire young people (primarily 14-25 year olds), helping them develop skills for life and giving them the chance to learn about education, training and careers in an engaging and inspiring way.

Although Thames Valley has a highly educated workforce many businesses report key skills gaps which hinders growth and we know that there is often a mismatch between the career aspirations of young people and opportunities available.

The Thames Valley Skills Show is designed to ensure that young people are given hands on insight into the local labour market including an understanding of those skills that are in demand, coupled with high quality careers guidance to make appropriate, sustainable choices first time. Our aim is to broaden the horizons of young people in schools/colleges and the unemployed, encouraging them to explore new career paths, raising aspiration and enabling them to understand the real opportunities offered by local growth sectors.

A programme of Skills Show events has taken place throughout the year across the Thames Valley culminating in a large event at Ascot racecourse in October.  Further information can be found by clicking the following links:
